About the Role

A precision manufacturing facility in East Petersburg is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Inspector to support high‑accuracy machining operations. This role is ideal for someone fluent in GD&T, confident with complex inspection work, and motivated to build and refine inspection processes that strengthen overall quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform first‑article, in‑process, and final inspections on machined components.
• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
• Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, gage pins, indicators, height gages, and other inspection instruments.
• Apply full GD&T principles to verify part conformity and document results.
• Develop, organize, and maintain inspection schedules, workflows, and quality procedures.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and leadership to resolve nonconformances and improve inspection efficiency.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and support internal/external audits.
• Recommend improvements to inspection methods, tooling, and overall quality processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in machining, precision manufacturing, or quality inspection.
• Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills.
• Hands-on experience operating a CMM (programming experience preferred).
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
• Solid understanding of GD&T and its real-world application.
• Ability to work independently and build structure around inspection processes.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience developing inspection workflows or quality procedures.
• Familiarity with ISO or AS quality systems.
• Background in high‑precision or tight‑tolerance machining environments.
