Job Description:
JOBDESCRIPTION
Library faculty will be responsible for:
- breadth, depth and currency of knowledge appropriate to the assignment
- proficiency in written and oral communication
- effective bibliographic instruction, including reference interview techniques
- worksite control appropriate to the library environment
- relevant group or one-on-one presentation
- referral to out-of-library resources when appropriate
- documented, relevant and timely evaluation of student performance when appropriate
Demonstrate concern for student success as evidenced by exhibiting and documenting courtesy, respect and professionalism in relationships with students, staff and faculty.
Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities.
Participate in co-curricular activities, including planning, implementing, and teaching in special programs designed to support student success.
Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle.
Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings.
Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.
Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district, college and division policies in the performance of duties.
Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.
Develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience in this area with African American, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students.
Work cooperatively with staff and students.
Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.

Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
Masters in library science, library and information science,
OR
Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
OR
The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

Desirable Qualifications:
DESIRABLEQUALIFICATIONS
Academic library faculty experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of working with integrated library systems (ILS) and/or library services platforms (LSP) and one or more of the following: discovery services, link resolvers, proxy servers, and digital repositories.
Demonstrated experience working with disproportionately impacted communities with a focus on social justice, equity, and achievement. This includes the ability to effectively engage the colleges diverse student population and the ability to address equity, inclusion and diversity issues in the classroom.
Knowledge of AngularJS and JSON.
Experience with JQuery and XML/XSLT
Experience with library-related systems technologies, including working with vendor support for third-party systems (e.g. hosted EZProxy, OCLC, SpringShare).
Demonstrated experience with authoring and editing HTML and CSS.
Experience with customization of end user interfaces for licensed electronic resources (EBSCO, ProQuest, etc).
Knowledge of standards related to web accessibility and ADA compliance.
Ability to participate in the librarys liaison program in the areas of research consultation, collections, instruction, and outreach.
Demonstrated experience with collection development, multiple types of materials, and working closely with academic departments.
Working Conditions:
Salary Range: $85,541 - $128,379 Annually
