We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team in Washington, D.C. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for moving materials around our facility, loading and unloading trucks, and stocking inventory safely and efficiently. This role is critical to the smooth operation of our logistics and distribution processes. You will operate various types of forklifts, ensuring proper maintenance and adherence to all operating procedures. A strong commitment to safety is non-negotiable; you must be knowledgeable in forklift safety protocols, aware of your surroundings, and diligent in using the required PPE. The position involves regular physical demands, including significant lifting and maneuvering of materials. If you have a valid forklift certification, a keen eye for detail, and experience in a warehouse setting, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise.
- Load and unload trailers and rail cars.
- Transport materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Inspect equipment before and after each shift and report any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the correct use of PPE, and maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed, including lifting.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification/license.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Ability to perform tasks involving significant lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong understanding of forklift safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
