We are seeking a seasoned Controller to lead and evolve our accounting function during a critical growth phase. This is a senior, high-impact role responsible for owning the full accounting life-cycle, strengthening controls, enhancing reporting, and building scalable processes to support a multi-entity, healthcare billing organization.

Our ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, experience in transaction-heavy, healthcare billing environments, and confidence to roll up their sleeves while also thinking strategically. This role partners closely with executive leadership and plays a key role in shaping the company's financial infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Financial Management & Reporting

Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities

Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reporting, and variance analyses

Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of all financial reporting to senior leadership

Partner with leadership to translate financial results into actionable insights

Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors

Process Development & Operational Excellence

Design, implement, and improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls

Lead and optimize accounts receivable (client invoicing) and accounts payable functions

Build and maintain across-the-board accounting policies and procedures

Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, scalability, and accuracy

Establish and monitor KPIs to assess accounting and close performance

Systems, Controls & Scalability

Implement and maintain strong internal controls aligned with GAAP and best practices

Oversee accounting systems, upgrades, and optimization initiatives

Ensure appropriate approval workflows and segregation of duties

Team Leadership & Development

Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing accounting team

Oversee department hiring, on-boarding, training, and performance management

Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team culture

Vendor & Partner Management

Manage relationships with external technology vendors and accounting partners

Develop vendor evaluation and performance management processes

Compliance, Risk & Governance

Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare industry regulations, and internal policies

Stay current on healthcare billing considerations and revenue recognition standards

Partner with legal and compliance teams on regulatory and risk matters

Oversee tax preparation, filings, and compliance activities

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, CPA strongly preferred

7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3-5+ years in leadership

Success in building and improving accounting processes, systems, and internal controls

Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting standards

Experience with QuickBooks Online in a multi-entity environment

Advanced Excel skills; comfort with data analysis and financial modeling

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities

Clear, confident, and professional communication skills

Responsive nature with the ability to pivot between competing priorities

Self-starter, able to work autonomously and on a team

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and react with discretion
