Job Summary
***PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (PE) LICENCE REQUIRED ***
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and analyzing mechanical systems. This role involves providing technical expertise, supporting the engineering process, and overseeing the successful execution of complex projects. The Mechanical Engineer conducts thorough analyses, prepares designs, and ensures compliance with industry standards. Additionally, this role involves mentoring junior staff, managing 3D models, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and achieve project objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Support and Project Contribution: Provides technical support throughout the engineering process, contributing to the design, development, and successful completion of mechanical engineering projects. Ensures that project designs meet technical requirements and industry standards.
Project Analysis and Calculations: Performs standard and complex technical calculations related to mechanical components, materials, and systems. Analyzes project requirements to ensure feasibility and compliance with engineering principles and regulations.
Field Inspections and Infrastructure Assessments: Conducts inspections of structures and mechanical systems in the field to ensure adherence to project specifications and safety standards. Assesses aging infrastructure and assists in overseeing improvement projects as needed.
Drafting and Design Preparation: Utilizes computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create detailed technical drawings and 3D models. Prepares code-compliant design packages that align with project requirements and industry standards. Manages AutoCAD 3D models to ensure project accuracy and consistency.
Design Review and Collaboration: Reviews engineering drawings and mechanical designs to ensure they adhere to project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory codes. Collaborates with design originators and project stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD models.
Advanced Technical Application: Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Oversee the design, development, and analysis of technical products and systems, applying advanced technical principles to solve complex engineering challenges.
Material Testing and Data Collection: Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structural design.
Cost Estimation and Project Planning: Prepares project estimates and plans as requested. Provides input on project budgets and timelines, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of engineering solutions.
Mentorship and Leadership: Mentors junior technical staff and provides guidance to develop their engineering capabilities. Promotes knowledge sharing and ensures that less experienced engineers understand project requirements and best practices
Technical Reporting and Documentation: Prepares detailed technical reports, design packages, and project specifications. Ensures all documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and meets industry standards.
Quality Control and Compliance: Ensures that all mechanical designs are code-compliant and adhere to industry standards and safety regulations. Conducts quality control checks to maintain accuracy and reliability throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Records Management: Maintains accurate project records, including technical reports, designs, calculations, and 3D models. Ensures all documentation is organized and accessible for project review and compliance purposes.
