We are seeking a local Principal Cloud Engineer for a long-term W2 consulting engagement with our client. The role focuses on Golang development, AWS EKS and IAM, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation, with additional experience across languages such as Python, Java, or Terraform. Candidates must be local, willing to interview in person, and prepared to discuss application modernization across AWS services, SDKs, and frameworks.
Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $65.00 to $70.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cloud platforms and solutions supporting development squads.
- Build containerized applications using Golang and deploy to AWS EKS.
- Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters with a focus on EKS and IAM.
- Create secure, scalable architectures and enforce cloud security best practices.
- Produce and enhance Terraform modules and related infrastructure automation.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and platform delivery.
- Provide support to the development community for platform engineering products.
- Build self-service capabilities and tooling to improve developer productivity.
- Collaborate in an agile environment and present solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with cloud and related technologies.
- Advanced proficiency with AWS services, including strong EKS and IAM expertise.
- Expertise building containerized applications with Golang.
- Skilled with Python, including use of Boto3 for AWS integrations.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Proficiency implementing CI/CD tools and pipelines.
- Experience designing and delivering secure cloud solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience creating self-service solutions for development teams.
- Java and experience (preferred).
- Background in retail financial markets or other highly regulated industries (preferred).
Education Requirements
- BS degree or equivalent experience in computer science preferred.
- AWS certification (preferred).
