We are hiring a Material Handler for our Columbus, Ohio warehouse. In this role, you will be responsible for moving, organizing, and preparing materials and products for shipment and storage. This position is essential to the smooth functioning of our logistics operations, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently. You will operate various equipment and contribute to maintaining an organized and secure warehouse environment.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and store incoming materials and finished goods.
- Transport materials to and from storage areas, production lines, or shipping docks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Sort and organize materials to ensure efficient inventory management.
- Load finished goods onto trucks for shipment, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing of loads.
- Operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts) safely and efficiently; certification may be required.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliations.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to material handling and logistics.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment; certification is a plus.
- Experience with inventory management systems is desirable.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures, including safe lifting techniques.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items regularly, up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of logistics principles.
