For over fifty years, New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) has honored its founder Arthur Ashe's legacy by celebrating the diversity of children, encouraging them to reach their highest potential through free tennis and academic programs. NYJTL is the largest provider of youth tennis and education programs in the nation, providing services in 100 unique sites across all five boroughs while reaching nearly 90,000 kids. In addition, NYJTL designed, funded (with NYC), built and operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the South Bronx. All NYJTL community tennis and after school programs are offered at no cost to its participants.
The mission of NYJTL is to develop the character of young people through tennis and education for a lifetime of success on and off the court. It believes life skills gained through tennis, academics, healthy living, and character development are a catalyst for long-term achievement.

SENIOR DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION OPERATIONS - POSITION OVERVIEW
New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) is seeking a highly organized and mission focused Senior Director of Education Operations to oversee the internal systems, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations of its youth development programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Education Officer, this role ensures that NYJTL's educational programs are operationally sound, compliant, and consistently high-quality across all sites.
This position is ideal for a systems thinker and experienced leader who excels at building internal capacity, managing complex operations, and supporting staff performance and development. The Senior Director of Education Operations will serve as the internal anchor to the Chief Education Officer's external-facing leadership. Responsible for leading change enablement initiatives, the Senior Director of Education Operations will empower individuals and teams to embrace change by providing support and resources. The Senior Director of Education Operations will play a key role in shaping company culture during this time of growth, ensuring it aligns with organizational values and supports long-term success.
Core Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Oversee daily operations across 30+ school-based sites, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Continue to develop and maintain internal systems, workflows, and protocols to support program delivery and staff performance.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (DOE, DYCD, DOH, SACC) and organizational standards.

Staff Supervision & Development
  • Directly supervise, train, and monitor senior program managers and site leaders.
  • Model leadership and supervision to develop and enhance team skills.
  • Lead staff onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Monitor program compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement systems for tracking attendance, incidents, evaluations, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular site reviews and audits to ensure program fidelity and quality

Data & Performance Management
  • Collaborate with the Chief Education Officer to analyze program data and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop dashboards and tools to monitor key performance indicators, ensuring accountability.
  • Use data to inform staffing, resource allocation, and operational decisions.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Serve as the primary liaison between program teams and internal departments (HR, Finance, Development).
  • Coordinate with the Finance team to manage budgets and ensure responsible spending.
  • Support the implementation of strategic initiatives and organizational priorities at the site level

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in education, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
  • 7-10 years of senior-level experience in program operations, preferably in youth development or education.
  • Proven success managing multi-site programs and large, diverse teams.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC education and youth services systems, including DOE, DYCD, and SACC regulations.

SKILLS
  • Master's degree in education, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with compliance, data systems, and performance management.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth empowerment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. NYJTL offers an excellent benefit and 403(b) retirement plan, Total Salary Range: $105,000 - $120,000.
