Job Summary:

This position involves the maintenance and repairs of tribally-owned homes on the Colorado River Indian Reservation and is under the indirect supervision of the HIP Project Administrator, HIP Secretary and direct supervision of the Housing Improvement Program Coordinator.

Duties and Functions:

  • Responsible for efficiently and effectively repairing and improving manufactured and site-built homes
  • Must be able to work well with clients and HIP workers in a cooperative manner
  • Work hours that are set by the HIP Coordinator
  • Must be prompt, reliable and dependable
  • Work includes and is not limited to digging trenches, concrete pouring and finishing (slabs and foundations), load and unload materials, assist skilled trades' people in their duties, replacing HVAC air filters, appliance delivery and set up, yard work and general cleanup
  • Shall be responsible for turning in receipts to HIP Secretary for billing accounting purposes
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Coordinator or designee to fulfill the Department's needs, objectives and/or goals
  • Follow established Tribal policies and those outlined in the Colorado River Indian Tribes Employee Handbook

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have skill in the use and care of tools and equipment
  • Must be safety conscious at all times as the nature of the work is physically demanding.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have considerable experience in plumbing, maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment and knowledge of safety requirements
  • Must possess a current valid driver's license throughout employment

Physical Requirement:

  • Must successfully complete a drug screening test prior to employment
  • Be able to stand at least eight (8) hours
  • Physically able to perform duties assigned
  • Occasionally work extended shifts as assigned
  • Able to work in all weather conditions; rain, wind and extreme heat
