Construction Estimator – Asphalt

Summary

The Asphalt Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for asphalt paving projects. This role requires direct experience estimating asphalt work and a strong understanding of asphalt materials, production, and paving operations.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for asphalt paving projects.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for asphalt, base, and related paving activities.
• Develop labor, material, equipment, and production-based cost estimates.
• Solicit and analyze pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate bid strategies.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits as needed.
• Prepare and submit complete bid proposals by required deadlines.
• Assist with change order pricing and cost tracking after project award.
• Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost data.

Qualifications

• MUST have at least 2+ years of experience estimating asphalt paving projects.
• Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, mix designs, production rates, and paving operations.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., AgTek, ProEstimate, or similar).
• Ability to read and interpret civil/transportation drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
