Overview
Electrical Design Engineer required to join our team in Sheffield. You will be responsible for the design, development, integration and testing of complex systems for various clients. Reporting to the Principal Hardware Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet project requirements and are delivered on time and within budget. Successfully complete all identified training both in-house and external, as required. Develop system architectures, designs, and detailed specifications to meet client requirements. Integrate subsystems and components to form cohesive systems, ensuring compatibility and performance. Execute system testing and validation to verify design specifications and performance criteria. Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, test plans and operator manuals. Analyze and translate client requirements into functional and non-functional specifications. Participate in technical discussions with project teams and resolve technical issues. Support commissioning at client sites. Support and specify procurement activities as required. Be actively involved in manufacture, assembly and testing of bespoke systems. Suggest changes and improvements where opportunities arise. Engage in continuous learning to develop technical skills and knowledge relevant to system integration. Communicate with clients to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction with the delivered system. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. Follow all health and safety regulations, procedures and protocols. Support the delivery of the project scope to company quality management system, process and procedures. Have base knowledge of client-specific standards and international standards. Engage in quality and technical reviews. Assist with any other duties reasonably requested and in line with the requirements of the post. Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with a relevant qualification or 4 years’ experience in systems engineering/hardware or electrical design or equivalent role. Experience in low voltage & extra low voltage power distribution; ideally 400VAC with motor starters. Competent in designing and drawing schematics and general arrangements from scratch based on a User Requirement Specification. Good understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies. Good knowledge of software packages relevant to the role (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical). Familiarity with system integration processes, tools and technologies. Basic understanding of industry and company quality management systems, processes and procedures. Skills and Abilities
