Maven TechLab is a Vancouver-based education company delivering hands-on STEM, coding, robotics, AI exploration, and maker programs for children ages 5–13. We partner with schools and community organizations to run after-school programs and seasonal camps (Winter, Spring, Summer).

Position Overview

We are seeking a Cooking Instructor who is passionate about working with children and delivering culinary learning experience in an age-appropriate way. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in cooking, love teaching and enjoy hands-on teaching in small group settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach after-school cooking classes to small groups of elementary students
• Design and develop an age-appropriate cooking curriculum suitable for young learners
• Plan weekly menus and prepare ingredients for each lesson in advance
• Deliver structured, age-appropriate cooking lessons focused on basic culinary skills, kitchen safety, and healthy habits
• Maintain a safe, clean, and positive learning environment at all times
• Assist with setup, cleanup, and proper handling of ingredients and equipment
• Support after-school programs and/or seasonal camps as scheduled

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, mentoring, or working with children (ages 6–13)
• Strong interest or background in cooking, food preparation, or culinary arts
• Knowledge of basic kitchen safety and food handling practices
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Reliable, punctual, and able to travel to school or program locations
• Patient, energetic, and comfortable leading hands-on activities
• Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check required

Assets (Not Required):

• Experience teaching cooking or life-skills programs to children
• Food Safe certification or similar food safety training
• Background in education, nutrition, hospitality, or culinary arts
• Experience working in after-school programs or camps
