We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth flow of goods into our distribution center. You will be responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting all incoming shipments. This includes verifying quantities against purchase orders, identifying any damages or discrepancies, and properly staging received items for put-away. The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming shipments from various carriers.
- Verify incoming goods against packing slips and purchase orders, checking for accuracy in quantity and item codes.
- Inspect all received items for damage or defects, documenting any issues found.
- Accurately record received goods into the WMS.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments regarding shipment discrepancies or damages.
- Organize and stage received goods for internal distribution or put-away.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or receiving environment preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with WMS is a plus.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.
- Must be able to perform moderate lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adherence to safety protocols.
This position plays a vital role in our overall logistics operations, ensuring our inventory is accurate from the moment it enters our facility.
