À propos
Step into a day where advanced robotics and automation meet real-world performance. As a Robotic Systems Maintenance Technologist at Symbotic, you'll be the steady hand behind our automated material handling ecosystem—automated adapters, vertical lifts, robotic arms, and a fleet of automated robotic vehicles—all working together to move products with speed and precision.
You'll join our Customer Operations organization, the team that runs the day-to-day operation of Symbotic's robotic material handling system. We partner closely with onsite customers to drive operational excellence—raising the bar on quality, safety, and overall system performance.
A day in the lifeOn a typical shift, you'll review CMMS logs, climb into the structure to inspect adapters and vertical lifts, and dial in calibrations so the system runs at peak throughput. When an automated robotic vehicle flags an anomaly, you'll use schematics, wiring diagrams, and advanced test equipment to diagnose and restore flow. You'll document every repair, communicate production-impacting issues with clear time estimates, and pivot quickly when priorities change. Before you clock out, you'll tidy your work area, remove replaced parts, and make sure the system is ready for the next run.
What you'll tackle- Inspect equipment in the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS), including automated robotic vehicles and automated adapters/lifts.
- Keep operations continuous by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components.
- Monitor and manage material flow through adapters—manual inbound, automatic inbound, and automatic outbound—to maximize throughput and cases per hour.
- Troubleshoot automated robotic vehicle stoppages and anomalies using schematic and wiring diagrams alongside advanced test instruments.
- Conduct periodic inspections within defined time windows; document labor, parts used, and corrective actions in the CMMS to ensure maintenance quality.
- Communicate production-impacting problems, recommended actions, and time estimates for corrective and emergency maintenance to stakeholders.
- Adapt to a dynamic environment and shift priorities based on immediate business needs.
- Clean up equipment and remove replaced parts from work areas after repairs.
- Recover automated robotic vehicles within the Symbotic Matrix select system, including work within restrictive environments.
- Perform light fabrication/utility tasks (e.g., machining holes and brackets, cutting steel, aligning sensors, attaching Unistrut).
- Set up, troubleshoot, calibrate, and execute tool changes on robotic arms.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace by following 5S practices.
- Perform Cell Operator functions as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Associate degree and/or certifications in electronics, automotive, automation, or manufacturing—or equivalent work experience (all levels encouraged to apply).
- 3+ years of experience with mechanical automation systems, or comparable education/training.
- Advanced troubleshooting ability and fluency with electro-mechanical diagrams; ability to run and operate automated systems.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with inspection activities and the discipline to follow procedures and manuals independently.
- Climb steep stairs into the structure and work near railings high above ground level.
- Work in protected environments without guaranteed temperature control; operate effectively between 105°F and 32°F.
- Wear appropriate PPE at construction sites (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, fall protection such as a safety harness).
- Safely lift up to 50 lbs frequently and move items up to 80 lbs.
- Stand or walk for 10–12 hours; frequently reach with hands/arms.
- Work at heights up to 45 feet and within restrictive spaces as tight as 24 inches; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
- Perform tasks that may include feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive motion with both hands and feet.
- Follow all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and fall protection.
