Job Description Summary
The General Manager will lead the launch and ongoing operations of Baer's new manufacturing office in Austin, TX, ensuring alignment with the company's core values and strategic goals. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the branch's operations, including cultural leadership, production, materials, quality control, engineering, and business development. The GM will act as a critical link between the Austin branch and Baer's home office in Hudson, WI, ensuring seamless communication, collaboration, and alignment with corporate strategies.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a proven track record of driving cultural transformation, operational excellence, and strategic growth. This role requires a strong focus on fostering a people-first driven culture, building high-performing teams, and delivering exceptional results in safety, quality, profitability, and employee engagement.

Role & ResponsibilitiesCultural Leadership & Development

Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day operations by managing production, materials, quality, and engineering to ensure that products meet customer requirements, are delivered on time, and are produced efficiently.
- Advance lean manufacturing practices by driving continuous improvement efforts that increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance performance.
- Maintain best-in-class safety and quality by building a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all quality standards, with continuous improvement top-of-mind.
- Monitor facility performance by establishing and tracking KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost to consistently achieve or exceed operational targets.
Strategic Growth & Business Development
- Lead revenue growth by expanding into new markets, strengthening customer pipelines, and attaining aggressive sales goals.
- Improve profitability by managing budgets responsibly, controlling costs, and delivering strong gross margin and EBITDA performance.
- Partner with corporate teams to align branch strategy with broader company goals and to maximize shared resources and support.
- Chart long-term success through strategic business plans that position the Austin branch as a leader in manufacturing innovation and performance.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and grow a high-performing team by hiring top talent and creating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
- Elevate employee engagement by communicating openly, recognizing contributions, and creating meaningful development pathways.
- Strengthen leadership continuity by identifying emerging talent and preparing future leaders for advancement.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback that inspires performance, supports growth, and nurtures individual strengths.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong customer relationships by working closely with distributors, engineers, and designers to ensure product quality and alignment with customer needs.
- Support sales initiatives by collaborating with the business development team to deliver timely quotes, understand market needs, and grow revenue.
- Keep stakeholders informed by providing senior management with accurate and timely updates on financial results, operational performance, and cultural progress.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field, preferred.
- 7+ years of leadership experience within manufacturing, operations, or a similar environment.
- Demonstrated success in driving cultural change and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or TPS methodologies.
- Strong background in P&L oversight, operational efficiency, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Understanding of electrical construction and manufacturing workflows.
- Proficiency with inventory management systems and business analytics tools.
- Ability to interpret production documents, reports, and financial statements.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong coaching and talent development capabilities to support organizational growth.
- This job operates in a professional office environment.
- This role regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.
- This position requires the ability to lift files and open file cabinets.
- Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, and occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch.
- This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
Pay Range:
$140, $215,000.00
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
