Job Title: Associate Attorney
Reports To: Managing Attorney
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: Responsible for providing all legal services as assigned by the partners or their designates by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drafts pleadings, motions, briefs, trial documents, and correspondence.*
- Drafts and responds to discovery.*
- Takes and defends depositions.*
- Provides counsel and legal services to new and existing clients as well as represents clients in a professional and expedient manner while maintaining express confidentiality.*
- Conducts legal research by preparing legal memoranda and necessary pleadings required in all aspects of both state and federal civil litigation matters on a daily basis.*
- Appears at hearings on an ongoing basis.*
- Negotiates settlements of civil disputes.*
- Supervise legal assistants, and paralegals.*
- Gathers evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.*
- Argues motions, meets with judges, and questions witnesses during the course of litigation.*
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and case managing software.
Education/Experience:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.); or License by State Bar of California.
Specialized Training:
Minimum of 2 years Experience
Certificates and Licenses:
- License by the State Bar of California
- Valid driver's license
