Responsibilities
To proactively demonstrate and work to the Company's values of Excel, Challenge and Inspire.
Provide supervisor experience within the security industry.
Customer care: Ensure all contractual commitments are honoured and, if there is any failure, advise the site security operations manager. Log complaints in accordance with the quality system and remedy in a timely and effective manner (as required on the assignment).
Training and development: In conjunction with the security site manager, monitor security officer performance, conduct annual appraisals in line with company policy, and encourage personal development. Liaise with the security manager / operations manager to ensure training requirements are met and certificates renewed within the correct time frame. Ensure security officers are aware of latest training initiatives and have opportunities for personal development and to improve their skill base. Ensure the team is constantly trained to meet leading industry practices.
Managerial/work performance: Lead in implementing customer corporate policies. Manage security and emergency incidents. Ensure correct operation of security systems and procedures. Take ownership of the security operation for the customer. Regularly assess risk and take appropriate measures. Manage on-site staff to maintain operational delivery to the highest agreed standard and client satisfaction. Inspect administrative, health and safety and quality procedures; endorse them with attention to all procedures. Provide assistance to staff with welfare requirements and assist in the vetting process to ensure compliance with BS7858. Take detailed notes of disciplinary/capability actions and refer to the operations manager.
Communication
Support the organisation as required by the operations manager; provide assurance of a professional and high quality security operation.
Develop and manage security-related projects with key customer management; liaise with the operations manager on changing contract requirements.
Provide information on site activity relevant to team performance, ongoing issues, and future development opportunities.
Quality
Maintain accurate and up-to-date assignment instructions for the site for security officer assessment; ensure instructions are read and understood. Maintain high personal and professional standards as a MITIE employee and adopt a total quality approach to work, colleagues and clients.
Person Specification
High level of integrity, trustworthy and reliable.
Hold an SIA Security Licence.
Self-motivated and proactive; effective decision maker with targets; team leadership and engagement skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to manage stressful situations and work under pressure.
Proficient in written and oral communication and IT literate; supervisory/leadership skills to influence and liaise with others.
Disciplined and professional attitude; ability to follow procedures and contribute to improvements; ability to listen and think creatively; ability to deal with emergencies.
Understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act, relevant Criminal, Civil Law and Police and Criminal Evidence.
Ability to manage resources in line with targets; capable of managing resources and relationships to meet objectives.
Job Overview
Protect our customer’s property, people and assets by providing security services in accordance with site AI's and changes.
Deliver results that meet/exceed KPIs / SLA; provide a service aiding contract retention.
Undertake additional training for continuous self-development.
Main Duties
Operations: Ensure compliance with policies and legal/regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and UK law/guidance bodies. Complete all site tasks defined in published Assignment Instructions (AIs). Review AIs for changes and suggest amendments to improve service. Obtain necessary front-line licences (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) worn during duties; customer requires CCTV PSS SIA Licence and other contractually required courses. Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements. Follow instructions and procedures without unnecessary challenging of authority. Work systematically and methodically.
Training: Complete required competency training; undertake additional training as directed by the Security Account Manager. Use technology to achieve key objectives and develop knowledge; renew licences 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety: Report hazards promptly; stay alert to threats or changes to reduce disruption, loss or damage. Maintain professional conduct with challenging customers. Complete detailed incident notebooks for incident reports. Keep to schedules and ensure check calls are carried out as per AI's. Call emergency services and the Communications Centre to report incidents.
