Overview
Under general supervision, the CAD Manager oversees all technical aspects of the Production Design Team. This role works in cooperation with Project Managers / Project Engineers to manage technical staff and ensure high level quality control throughout the project. CAD Manager will support civil engineering projects such as water, wastewater, sewer, roads, streets and other utility and transportation related projects for local agency clients throughout the greater Seattle Market.
Primary Duties
- Plan, organize and manage work plans of CAD project team.
- Manage project budget, resource identification and schedule for CAD team.
- Provide guidance and direction to CAD team to ensure operational and technical excellence.
- Develop, implement and monitor CAD design standards and procedures to meet customer needs.
- Manage CAD hardware and software systems for the design team.
- Work with Engineering Lead regarding technical issues, training and other CAD system issues.
- Initiate and maintain contact with clients for clarification, coordination and negotiation of critical issues.
- Identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies.
- Recommend best practices for solutions to meet customer business needs.
- Hire, train and supervise CAD users in core application skills and standards.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Strong preference for candidates with previous local agency experience to the Greater Seattle Market.
- Strong preference for candidates with previous civil engineering experience supporting roads, streets, utility, wastewater, transportation and utility related projects
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree / Technical Certificate preferred.
- Proven mastery of CAD Design duties and 8 plus years of Design Experience.
- 12+ years related work experience, with 8+ years of design experience preferred.
- Proficiency with applicable CAD applications as required (e.g., C3D, Revit, etc.).
- Proficiency with internal CAD Standards and practices. Applicable CAD certifications preferred.
- Strong understanding of industry Design Standards and Specifications as required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
- Proven ability to lead / mentor technical staff.
- Demonstrates strong ability to lead project design independently.
- Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and meticulous with details.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing design teams to deliver quality project outcomes.
Location
- Position is available out of Seattle, WA or Everett, WA and is based on a hybrid schedule
Salary
- $142,000 - $152,000 (DOE)
