Job purpose

Project Engineer will be responsible for managing projects, engineering documentation, including Bills of Materials (BoMs) in the ERP, engineering design changes, and the Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient management changes, maintaining product lifecycle data, and supporting engineering design activities. 

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Project Coordination:
  • Lead and manage end-to-end engineering projects, from requirement gathering to final delivery.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, milestones, and resource allocations.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Aftermarket.
  1. Technical Responsibility and Design:
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models for surface and submersible products.
  • Conduct prototype development and testing to validate the designs.
  • Provide technical documentation and ensure alignment with engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with the Japan R&D and Global Engineering teams to align on design strategy, cost targets, and performance requirements.
  1. Bill of Materials (BoMs) Management:
  • Create, update, and maintain accurate BoMs for various products.
  • Ensure BoMs are properly structured and integrated into Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Coordinate with procurement and manufacturing teams to verify component availability and cost considerations.
  1. ECR/ECN Process Management:
  • Coordinate the end-to-end ECR and ECN processes, ensuring timely approvals and implementation.
  • Review and validate change requests, assessing their impact on design, production, and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to execute changes efficiently.
  1. Process Improvement & Compliance:
  • Identify and implement improvements in engineering document control and change management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements (DOE, NSF, NRCAN etc), and company policies.
  • Support audits and calibrations related required for the engineering test stands.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or an engineering related field.
  2. 4–7 years of experience in the design and development of pumps or rotating equipment. 
  3. Understanding hydraulic design principles and pump performance curves.
  4. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as casting, machining, and balancing.
  5. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and project management tools.
  6. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional global environment.

Working conditions

This position operates in a professional, temperature controlled, office setting that is clean and well lit. In this environment, employees will have their own workstation, office or cubical space and are equipped with basic office equipment including a desk, chair, telephone, headset, and computer, etc. This position also requires activity in a manufacturing environment with noise and fumes related to processes.  Temperatures may vary seasonally and walking and standing on hard surfaces are required.  Due to the nature of business activities, extended or a flexible work schedule is often required over the traditional 8 to 5 workdays.  

Some travel may be required.

Physical requirements

Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
