Green Analytical Laboratories is an environmental laboratory located in Durango, Colorado, that service the environmental, private and oil & gas sectors in the Four Corners Region. GAL has an immediate opening for a full-time Laboratory Analyst.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties will include the daily analysis of drinking water, wastewater and soil samples.
Performs routine lab tasks that require experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
- Preparation of samples using standard techniques
- Prepare and maintain chemical solutions required for testing using standardized formulas or SOPs
- Proactively ensures test method is actionable by checking and maintaining inventory of standards, reagents and buffers required to execute test method
- Orders supplies as needed
- Perform chemical analysis using standard techniques
- Calculating data
- Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
- Performing routine instrument maintenance
- Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with GAL's environmental, health and safety and quality assurance standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work space
- Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to Lachat, Ion Chromatography, TOC, Mercury, etc...
- Aliquots and weighs samples
- Washes glassware
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensures laboratory trash and expired reagents are disposed of properly
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Provides cross-functional support to other departments as needed
- Assist in organizing sample storage coolers and purging samples as needed
The analyst must also be flexible in response to demand and willing to learn new analyses and provide backup to other analysts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree in a related science field and/or 1 year lab experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Basic knowledge and understanding of chemical hazards and safety equipment used in laboratory.
- Basic understanding of good laboratory practices.
- A strong attention to detail while maintaining the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to accurately document and maintain records.
- Professional communication skills.
- Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain a positive and courteous attitude.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
