Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for leading daily plant operations to ensure production goals are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, food quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role drives operational performance through strong leadership, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

The Production Manager oversees all levels of plant staff, develops future leaders, and fosters a culture of accountability, engagement, and operational excellence. This position plays a key role in setting plant goals, aligning production activities with company strategy, and ensuring policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are consistently followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production schedules and output goals while ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, food safety, and regulatory standards
  • Champion food safety, GMP, sanitation, and quality standards, ensuring all production activities meet or exceed company and regulatory requirements
  • Lead, manage, and support production teams across all shifts, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Develop, track, and analyze performance metrics to improve productivity, reduce waste, and drive operational efficiency
  • Allocate labor, equipment, and materials effectively to maximize throughput and meet business objectives
  • Establish plant goals and execute action plans aligned with company strategy and operational priorities
  • Select, train, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline leaders, building a strong leadership pipeline
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve production, process, and personnel issues through timely and effective corrective action
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and manufacturing best practices to improve processes, quality, and cost control
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional problem solving to drive measurable performance gains
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices and implement operational improvements as appropriate

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in food production or manufacturing management
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and practical application in a production environment
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for operating a food manufacturing facility
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing teams at multiple levels
  • Strong root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Extensive knowledge of operational procedures and manufacturing best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field

Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, squat, kneel, reach overhead, and lift up to 55 pounds

Work Environment

  • Exposure to allergens including mold and food allergens such as peanuts and tree nuts
  • Work performed in manufacturing and warehouse environments with noise and moving equipment
  • May require work indoors and outdoors
  • Temperature conditions vary by location, ranging from room temperature to hot and humid areas, as well as freezer environments reaching minus 20 degrees
