Job Description – Back Office
As a Back Office Medical assistant, you will be responsible for conducting basic duties for doctors in our medical facility. In this role, you will accompany patients to the exam rooms, and may be required to take a short history of the reason for the visit.You will carry out most of your responsibilities in the back patient area of our facility, but you may also be responsible for some front office duties, such as filing and organizing patient records, answering phone calls, and scheduling patients.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Acting as liaison between the doctor and the patient
General cleanliness, stocking of patient care rooms and procedure room, including wiping everything down and sweeping floors; and clearing hallways of any waste prior to bringing patients back
Maintaining monthly autoclave cleaning
Assisting patients to be placed on the main chair with socks and shoes removed, ready to be seen by doctor
Developing X-rays after process is completed by doctor
Performing biweekly inventory and placing orders with doctor's approval
Caring and maintaining all clinic equipment and accessories
Filling in for front desk, as needed
Providing patient care and support to the medical staff
Obtaining new patient medication list
Following all OSHA and HIPAA regulations and precautions
Ensuring that all patients are being treated in a timely manner
Providing translation services, as needed
Ensuring a follow-up appointment is made prior to patient leaving the office, it's enter into the system and patient is given an appointment card
Ensuring patient confidentiality.
Providing instruction and information to patients as per doctor's orders
Skills and abilities include, but are not limited to:
Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients who may be upset or stressed
Ability to work in a fast-paced, office environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality, safeguarding patient privacy
Basic understanding of common medical terminology
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as accept direction on given assignments
Ability to work collectively with administration and staff
Strong computer skills
Strong communication skills to converse clearly over the phone and in person
Strong organizational and multi tasking skills to manage a variety of assignments effectively, prioritizing workload
Ability to treat all patients and their families with respect, courtesy and professionalism.
Ability to promotes a high degree of morals and positivity within the office, including cooperation and communication
Ability to tactfully handle difficult situations
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 10 per week
Work Location: In person
