The Williamsport Home is seeking a Cook Supervisor who works primarily 12pm-8pm shifts in our skilled nursing facility. This position fills an every-other weekend requirement and rotates holidays as assigned.

Position Summary: Performs a variety of quantity cooking and other kitchen duties and directs dietary aides under the supervision of the Food Service Director. Must adhere to all standards of the Board of Health and OSHA.

Responsibility:

  1. Reads and follows extended menus, preparation book and bulletin boards;
  2. Prepares items skillfully and on strict time schedule;
  3. Serves on tray and food service line;
  4. Fills and completes nourishment requisitions and delivers to floor(s);
  5. Modifies/updates recipes as needed; notifies Food Service Director of same
  6. Directs and oversees completion of dietary workers' duties;
  7. Performs duties as assigned by Food Service Director;
  8. Completes and initials job tasks in quality assurance book;
  9. Keeps work areas clean, orderly and safe;
  10. Attend various facility committee meetings as deemed necessary;
  11. Serve as liaison with nursing department;
  12. Assist Food Service Director with evaluations of dietary aides on 4-8 pm shift
  13. Discipline as necessary, per Home policy.
  14. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices, assuring resident safety.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Helps with coverage in event of emergency or strike; and ,
  2. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, carrying objects (up to 50 lbs), overhead, lateral and low reaching, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending and hand/arm/finger usage.

Occasional climbing, stepping downward and squatting.

Environmental Conditions:

  1. Works mainly in skilled nursing facility's kitchen;
  2. Is subject to frequent interruptions;
  3. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and visitors;
  4. Works beyond normal working hours when necessary;
  5. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs and meetings;
  6. Is exposed to body fluids, occasional wet floors, dust, fumes, noise; and,
  7. Works on hard floor surfaces.
