Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our busy specialty dental practice. This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring smooth daily operations and excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, proficiency with dental and medical software systems, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Bilingual abilities and prior dental office experience are highly valued to enhance communication and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly, manage appointment scheduling, and coordinate patient flow efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes including medical collection and coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical billing procedures.
  • Prepare and review patient documentation, medical records, and treatment plans while ensuring accuracy in documentation review and health information management.
  • Assist dentists during procedures by providing clinical support, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining a clean treatment area.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide exceptional patient service.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), maintaining electronic health records (EHR systems like Meditech or eClinicalWorks), and managing front desk operations.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all administrative processes.
  • Support clinic operations through office management duties including inventory management, filing, and supporting care plans documentation.

Skills

  • Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance billing procedures including Medicare.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with multi-line phone systems and 10 key typing is essential.
  • Ability to perform medical administrative support tasks efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy in documentation review and health information management.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus to assist diverse patient populations.
  • Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental office equipment such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while adhering to HIPAA standards for confidentiality. Pay: $ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
