Direct Support Professional

We are looking for…

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) who will provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Holiday Respite Services are provided to individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in Brooklyn and Queens. Trained staff members work with individuals on a number of goals, including ADL skills, socialization and academic needs. These goals will increase the individual's potential for independence, individualization and productivity. Staff will work with individuals on these goals and make notes of their progress.

Holiday Respite services are provided to individuals between the ages of 6 and 13 when they are out of school while school is in session (ie. sprint break and/or winter recess), they are given an opportunity to participate in various recreational activities. Individuals are taken to various recreational locations such as museums, zoos, and amusement parks. The program runs 24 days a year, corresponding with the Department of Education's holiday schedule time is from 7am to 5pm whenever school is closed during the school calendar year from September to June.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities in regards to counseling, training in activities of daily living, behavior management, and community integration as well as posse great teamwork and communication skills. Must have a valid NY drivers license in good standing

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• DSP: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:
