Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Residents with daily living activities, to include, delivering meals, turning and ambulating residents and providing plenty of fluids and nourishment meals throughout scheduled shift
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming
- Help Residents with personal hygiene
- Observe Residents and report any health issues to the supervising nurse
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
- Provide basic life support as needed and respond promptly to patient emergencies.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols
- Assist nursing staff with medical procedures and documentation using electronic health record systems such as SigmaCare
- Document Resident food and fluid intake
- Assist Residents with feeding and serving nutritional supplements
- Making the Resident's beds and keeping their living areas clean and tidy
- Transport Residents within the facility
- Assist nurses and other staff as needed
- Adhere to professional standards and follow all facility policies and procedures
- Abide by all federal, state and local requirements and standards
- Maintain the confidentiality of all Residents and Facility data
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in training sessions and continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Qualifications and Skills:
- Current and Valid NY CNA certification
- Experience in caregiving or patient care settings is highly desirable
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems SigmaCare is a plus
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment while also demonstrating independence when necessary
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective communication skills
- Good collaboration and teamwork skills
- Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
- Keen attention to detail
- In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
- Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
- Excellent observational skills for monitoring patient conditions and reporting changes to nursing staff
- Physical strength and stamina
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
