Quality Engineer

Midcon is looking for an 'owner' to excel in Midcon's fast-paced, diverse environment. Midcon Cables Company, a leading provider of cabling and wire interconnect solutions for the defense and aerospace industry has an immediate opening for a Quality Engineer inside our facility at Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville, SC.

The Quality Engineer will provide technical guidance to the quality assurance department, production, engineering, customer service, and contracts. Maintain good vendor/customer relationships while supporting all quality functions for current production and product development. Responsible for APQP and PPAP requirements for new and takeover programs as required.

Summary of essential job responsibilities:

• Champion production part approval process (PPAP) and the development of customer documentation needed for compliance to requirements per the customer requirements and applicable standards.
• Assessment in day to day production and preproduction quality systems to identify deficiencies and participate in resolution of issues found.
• Assist management with development of production and preproduction quality systems as needed.
• Provide trending analysis on quality issues and performance metrics in manufacturing.
• Conducts First Article part evaluations to customer requirements and creates the document package.
• Works under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are varied.
• Support RCCA activity for internal and external concerns

Quality Engineer skills:

• Functional knowledge of AS9100:D and/or ISO 9001:2015 quality management system requirements required.
• Preferred quality experience within a Defense or Aerospace manufacturing environment
• Professional certification considered a plus (ASQ, CQE, CQM)
• Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to effectively delegate and utilize available resources for timely resolution of tasks required.
• Must be results focused
• Ability to effectively support Team Members.
• Ability to multi-task and focus on priorities
• Bachelor's degree in Quality or other relevant area is preferred but not required.
• Blueprint interpretation experience required
• Experience with the APQP process preferred
• Creating Flow charts, FMEA's, and Control Plans experience preferred, but must have strong computer skills utilizing excel, word and powerpoint.
