We are hiring a certified Forklift Operator for our busy warehouse in Chicago, Illinois. This critical role involves the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. You will be responsible for ensuring materials are handled properly, assisting with inventory management, and maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong understanding of warehouse safety, and a commitment to operational excellence within our logistics center. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, electric) safely and efficiently in a warehouse environment.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Move materials to and from production, storage, and loading areas.
- Stack and stage products in designated locations.
- Perform daily inspections of forklift equipment and report any issues.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Accurately document all movements and activities related to material handling.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid forklift operator certification is required.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, up to 70 pounds.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse safety practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to adhering to PPE requirements and safety protocols.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain operations.
Working Conditions:
This position requires significant time operating forklift machinery and performing physical tasks. The work environment is a busy warehouse that may experience temperature fluctuations. A strong emphasis is placed on safety; you will be required to wear all designated PPE and follow strict safety guidelines to ensure a secure and productive work experience in our logistics facility.
