Business Development Manager Location: Birmingham (or Remote/Hybrid) Salary: £40,000 per year + Commission Reports to: Head of Sales / Managing Director About Us Our client is a leading UK provider of direct mail, transactional mail, automation & integration, and postage solutions. With over 30 years of experience helping businesses connect with their audiences through innovative, reliable and efficient mailing solutions, we pride ourselves on building trusted, long-term relationships with clients across multiple sectors. Role Overview We’re seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to support our next stage of growth. You’ll play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships and helping drive revenue through strategic sales activities across our full range of services. Key Responsibilities * Identify, prospect and qualify new business opportunities (SMEs, mid-market and enterprise) through research, networking and outreach strategies. * Generate leads and develop sales pipelines aligned with company growth targets. * Conduct targeted cold calls, email campaigns, and virtual/in-person meetings with potential clients. * Present service offerings clearly and professionally, tailoring solutions to client needs. * Build and maintain strong customer relationships to drive repeat business and referrals. * Collaborate with internal teams (operations, marketing, account management) to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction. * Prepare proposals, commercial terms and contracts in line with company guidance. * Track performance against sales targets; produce revenue forecasts and activity reports. What We’re Looking For Experience & Skills * Proven experience in a business development, sales or client-facing role (print, marketing, technology or services sectors advantageous). * Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills. * Self-motivated with a proactive and strategic mindset. Enthusiastic about meeting and exceeding targets. * Comfortable using CRM systems and sales tools to manage pipelines and report on activity. * Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment. Personal Attributes * Commercially minded and results-oriented. * Customer focused with strong problem-solving skills. * Able to articulate value propositions and adapt messaging to different audiences.
