Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct care to patients in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) using the nursing process. This involves ongoing assessment of the total patient. The RN implements interventions to treat presenting symptoms and evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions and the patient's responses. The RN serves as a team leader/member and a resource for others, delegating and overseeing support staff while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to establish goals and outcomes for each patient. The RN is responsible for meeting the needs of all types of patients.
Responsibilities- Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's authorized plan of care and accepted standards of evidence-based nursing practice.
- Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, education, responding to call lights, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and participate in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information to improve patient care.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines, as well as hospital-specific policies and procedures relating to care provided in the medical center.

ScheduleThis position requires night shifts of 12 hours from 7 PM to 7:15 AM, with every other weekend and holiday coverage.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure- 2+ years of experience as an RN in a Neuro PCU setting - Required
- Recent travel work history - Highly Preferred
- Active Michigan RN License - Required
- Active American Heart Association BLS Certification - Required
- Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification - Required
- Active NIHSS Certification - Required
- Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty (PCU) - Required
- Two Supervisory Reference Forms completed within the last two years - Required
