Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
At Oracle Analytics, we are building the next generation of enterprise AI products that enable intelligent data analysis at scale. By leveraging Oracle's strengths in data management and enterprise software, we are advancing our platforms through the integration of Agentic AI, generative AI, and modern machine learning techniques.

We are seeking Applied Scientist Interns to contribute to research and prototyping efforts in GenAI involving structured and unstructured data by building AI Agents, alignment of reasoning LLMs, retrieval techniques and inference scaling.

As an intern in the Applied Science team, you will contribute to the design and development of enterprise-grade AI agents fueled by reasoning-focused LLMs that power Oracle's next-generation analytics and data platforms. We are looking for PhD students who excel in working independently given a problem, can find relevant work quickly and develops hypothesis and research questions with strong empirical skills to solve the problem.

What You'll Bring: (Objective Minimum Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics or a related field during the school year AND returning to the program after completion of the internship.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. For clarity purposes, this means that Oracle is not in a position now, or in the future, to offer US immigration sponsorship. This includes, but is not limited to, support of H-1B, TN, O-1, green card or F-1 e.g. EAD, OPT, CPT, I-20, F-1 visa stamp, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing scalable AI/ML systems for real-world or production-like enviornments.
  • Strong foundation in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI, with emphasis on LLMs and reasoning models.
  • Experience working with structured data systems (SQL, analytics engines, schemas) and unstructured data (documents, text corpora).
  • Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and agentic tooling such as:

  • LangChain

  • VectorStores, retrievers and hybrid retrieval
  • Graph-based or knowledge-augmented generation (GraphRAG)
  • LLM Cache, orchestration, and LLMOps (MLFlow),
  • Fine-tuning LLMs, Reinforcing Learning, Reward modeling
  • Inference scaling, training verifiers and critic models

  • Strong research background with a solid publication record (with publications in ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICLR, NAACL, etc.)

  • Reside in the United States and/or attend a university in the US.
  • Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2026.
