Night Support Worker - Wansbeck House
Who Are We?
The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. We have five sites providing specialist education, adult day services, residential care and independent supported living to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, Jesmond, Newcastle City Centre and North Shields.
We work towards excellence every day and our team members are committed to delivering the very best outcomes for the people we support. Our dynamic and flexible service is tailored to the specific needs of the individual, making it easier to live, learn and be part of a world adapting to change.
The Role
Wansbeck House is an 8 bedded flat on the site of the Northern Counties School. The people we support are aged 17+ and require support with day-to-day activities including moving and handling, personal care, medication administration and eating and drinking. As well as supporting our young people to plan, choose and engage in activities and opportunities for socialising and maintaining relationships.
We are looking for a Night Support Worker with a passion for supporting young people with the highest standard of person-centred care to join our team at Wansbeck. It is a busy, lively environment full of fun and laughter where no two days are the same. As a Night Support Worker, you will provide support to the young people as needed throughout the night, ensuring that individuals are safe and supported as per their care and support plans. You will also support our young people with their morning routines; some of our young people attend day placements and/or education and need assistance to get ready.
Our ideal candidate will be resilient, hold a good understanding of positive behaviour support and have experience working with young people who may have limited communication skills and behaviours that can be challenging. We do provide full support and training to enable our team to work within the positive behaviour support framework and provide additional training, as required, in NAPPI. We have strong relationships with external support teams such as the PBS team and community learning disability teams.
Wansbeck is a residential service and is where our young people call home; therefore shift patterns are across 365 days a year on a rota basis
