PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Mobile Engineer is responsible for on-site inspection, repair, and replacement of hydraulic hoses and components ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance for various industrial applications. They are also responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various mechanical systems and equipment at different locations.They work primarily on-site, traveling to customers premises or job sites to carry out their duties.
This role demands technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct on-site inspections of hydraulic hoses and systems to identify issues and recommend solutions.
Perform on-the-spot repairs or replacements of damaged or malfunctioning hoses.
Conduct routine maintenance checks and repairs on machinery, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify faults, and implement effective solutions promptly to minimise downtime.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to provide technical expertise and support.
Maintain accurate records of hose inspections, repairs, and replacements.
Ensure that all necessary safety documentation and risk assessments for all jobs are submitted accurately and efficiently.
Report all near misses and potential hazards.
Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations while working on-site to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Provide a professional onsite hose replacement and hydraulic service.
Actively promote our services and products, build and maintain relationships with customers
Actively seek new opportunities and customers, to ensure continual fiscal performance and growth of your area.
Maintain the highest levels of health and safety practice including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment where applicable.
Management of a mobile service vehicle to include regular and accurate stock takes, routine maintenance, and documentation.
Manage inventory levels of spare parts and consumables, ensuring adequate stock availability for timely repairs and installations.Attend training courses as requested by management.Good personal presentation and adherence to policies and procedures.
Help and support at any branch or manufacturing facility when required. Management team will advise and communicate as/when this is needed. R&R may defer but will be supported by the internal teams across the respective branches.
Customer Service and Interaction:
Provide excellent customer service during site visits and breakdown jobs by being courteous, professional, and helpful.
Address any customer inquiries or concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
Recommend and implement upgrades or modifications to existing equipment to enhance performance and efficiency.
Provide training and technical support to clients or end-users on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to work in various environments and handle diverse mechanical systems and equipment.
Vehicle Maintenance and awareness:
Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure that service vehicles are in good working condition.
Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
Exercise caution and defensive driving techniques to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road.
Efficient route planning and navigation are essential to minimise delays.
Handle goods with care to prevent damage during loading, transport, and unloading.
Ensure that products are properly secured and organised your vehicle to maintain their integrity.
Comply with company policies and procedures, as well as local regulations governing commercial transportation.
Adhering to vehicle weight limits, hours of service regulations, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
Comply with company health safety policies and procedures and, as applicable, ensure safe use and maintenance of all equipment and fully utilise all safety items within the legal and H&S requirements.

JOB DIMENSIONS / SCOPE
Responsible for the overall performance and success of the service van within its respective area.
Responsible for stock control, logistics and operating machinery upon completion of all relevant repairs.
Ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment across various industries.
Excellent communication with reporting managers and other internal staff members.
KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Possess a valid UK driver's license and clean driving record, as the role involves traveling to different locations.
Relevant certifications or vocational training in mechanical engineering or a related field may be advantageous.
Hydraulic or mechanical qualificationis preferred but not essential.
Mechanical engineering: 3 years is preferred but not essential.
Hydraulic: 3 years is preferred but not essential.
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in mobile repair or field service technician positions.
Exceptional knowledge of UK fluid power industry and strong connections across UK manufacturing industry.
IOSHH Managing Safely (or equivalent) - BFPA or other industry relevant health & safety technical training
COMPETENCIES / CAPABILITIES
Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and work effectively under pressure.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the industry.
Ability to work independently and make on-the-spot decisions.
Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and building long-term relationships.
Competence in mechanical systems, including knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues effectively.
Excellent communication and people skills to interact with customers and team members professionally.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and clients expectations.
Good physical condition, as the job may involve lifting/moving heavy equipment and working in confined spaces or at heights.
Keen attention to detail to ensure accurate installation and precise troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
Commitment to delivering high-quality service and building positive relationships with clients, along with a positive can-do attitude.
Capable of working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Shift and Schedule
40 hours per week
8 hours per day within the hours of 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday (flexibility required)
