NBM Railways is seeking a GIS Analyst to join our dynamic team, contributing to the development, enhancement and support of a wide range of mobile and GIS applications across our Canadian and US operations. This role also has responsibility for Land folio management, data quality assurance and the organization and maintenance of crossing agreements. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities· Use world-class software to prepare and deliver high-quality spatial information products
· Utilize maps and datasets for spatial analysis to support business decision-making
· Develop and support a variety of desktop, mobile and web-based GIS applications
· Ensure timely updates and maintenance of GIS data
· Manage and maintain land folio records for rail assets across Canada and the United States, ensuring data completeness and accuracy
· Oversee GIS data quality standards, governance, and validation processes across jurisdictions
· Organize, maintain, and update crossing agreements, ensuring spatial alignment with legal and engineering records
· Collaborate with Engineering, Real Estate, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure GIS data aligns with contractual, regulatory, and operational requirements
· Support compliance and reporting needs related to land ownership, easements, and crossing agreements
· Lead projects to ensure full utilization of GIS within the department
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications· University degree or community college diploma with a focus on Geographic Information Systems
· Training or experience with the Esri platform is considered an asset
· Strong data quality management skills, including data validation and adherence to data governance standards
· Proven ability to manage multiple datasets and priorities
· Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to maintain structured records, agreements, and supporting documentation
· Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and sound judgment in day to day responsibilities
· Comfortable working in a cross border operational environment, with an understanding of differing regulatory and data requirements between Canada and the United States.
