*Qualifications*
Must possess and retain a current license as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Michigan. At least one-year relevant experience with persons with a developmental disability is preferred. Minimum one-year pediatric experience required. Must also have FIA and Police clearance. Additional requirements include: a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual families, the ability to engage and maintain clinical relationships with families, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other providers, effective interpersonal communication skills, the ability to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.
*Position Summary*
The Occupational Therapist, in compliance with agency policy and procedures, is responsible for providing direct services to clients diagnosed with a Developmental Disability. Must also complete evaluations, recommendations, as well as develop treatment goals and service plans. Therapist is also responsible for periodic reviews and all documentation pertinent to discipline as well as requested by the Case Manager. Also must provide community education, consultation with other interdisciplinary team members and respond to consumer service requests. Regular working hours are to be determined based on the needs of the consumers and of the program and may include some evenings and occasional weekends. Services will be provided in the home and at PsyGenics. Typical business hours are 8:30am-5:00PM.
*Specific Responsibilities*
* Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments/evaluations in compliance with agency and Medicaid Standards
* Design client treatment plans that are based on clients’ needs and the least restrictive treatment services.
* Develop measurable and objective goals that directly reflect the PCP assessment.
* Function as a member of the I-team to determine the least restrictive type and scope of treatment.
* Provide consultation and training to other staff as requested.
* Provide community education, consultation with other interdisciplinary team members
* Respond to consumer service requests
* Develop and maintain written records necessary for professional practice as defined in the procedural manual.
* Train and supervise students, volunteers as directed.
* Complete necessary equipment and home modification requests in accordance with program guidelines.
* Must complete 24 hours of program and/or position specific training on an annual basis and must maintain active credentials of QIDP, CMHP, QMHP.
* Perform similar or related duties as assigned
