We are seeking a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our team in Washington, D.C. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and dispatching all outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently. Your tasks will include verifying order details, packaging items securely, and generating shipping labels and documentation. This position is essential for our logistics chain, and a strong focus on safety and accuracy is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Review outgoing shipment orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Pick and pack items according to order specifications, ensuring proper product protection.
- Operate shipping software to create shipping labels and track shipments.
- Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs forms.
- Load finished shipments onto trucks, coordinating with carriers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area.
- Wear and properly use all required PPE , such as safety vests and gloves.
- Assist with inventory control as needed.
- Handle packages that may involve regular lifting of items up to 40 lbs.
- Follow all company safety protocols to prevent workplace accidents.
- Contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of the overall logistics process.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse environment preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and carrier platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing orders and documentation.
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical exertion, including standing, walking, and moderate lifting .
- Commitment to adhering to all safety procedures and utilizing PPE .
- Understanding of shipping logistics and best practices.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual.
