JOB SUMMARY
Advanced Practitioner performing a complete and accurate trauma history and physical according to established protocols.
Key Job Responsibilities
Essential Function
Functions as the advanced practice provider to a group of Trauma/surgical critical care and emergency general surgery patients. Obtains a health history and performs a physical exam in order to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan in accordance with established standards, procedures and practices. Requisitions laboratory tests and radiological exams as appropriate.
Completes daily Trauma/surgical critical care and emergency general surgery service computerized progress note addressing all problems, plans of care, and diagnostic workup on each patient utilizing established protocols. Review and interpret lab data and radiology data each day to help formulate care plans. Enter orders in EMR. Daily rounds, dressing changes, and writing of progress notes.
Consults and works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers in compliance with iRESPECT standards to coordinate and implement activities, promote patient/customer satisfaction and to develop an effective treatment plan. May also see consults to assist residents, when necessary.
Daily rounds in Trauma Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit, Trauma Step-down, Trauma floor, Critical Care Assessment area making referrals and consultations if indicated. May also assist in "distance rounds".
Performs duties of a Trauma Advanced practice provider as delineated in protocols required to ensure continuity of patient medical care.
Management of CCA (Critical Care Assessment) patients in conjunction with the attending and CCA residents.
Management of Trauma Step-down in conjunction with the trauma fellow and
trauma attending.
Manage/discharge Trauma ICU and/ or CCU in conjunction with the trauma/ surgical critical care fellow and attending physician from various settings in conjunction with trauma attending and/or trauma team leader.
Manage Trauma Clinic with attending physician.
Coordination of transfers and discharge planning with the case managers and/or social workers.
Attends daily turnover rounds.
Essential Function
Dictate discharge summaries in a timely manner.
Participates in the administrative and academic aspect of the trauma and surgical critical care service, in staff meetings, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety program activity, conferences, grand rounds, and other duties as delineated by the PIC or his/her designee.
Maintains active credentialing by medical staff.

of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
