You Are:

We are seeking a strategic and visionary Enterprise Architect to design, develop, and implement enterprise-wide application architecture that aligns with our business goals in the fast-paced retail sector.

The opportunity:

  • Strategy and Alignment: Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap, ensuring IT strategy and initiatives, particularly in application development, are aligned with core retail business objectives and digital commerce growth.

  • Cloud Architecture Leadership: Lead architectural design discussions for large initiatives across both Azure and GCP, leveraging platform-specific services and ensuring seamless integration in a multi-cloud/hybrid environment.

  • Application Development & Modernization: Architect scalable and secure cloud-native solutions using modern patterns like microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), API-first design, and event-driven architecture. Drive the modernization and rationalization of legacy retail systems.

  • Retail Domain Expertise: Apply in-depth knowledge of retail industry processes, including e-commerce platforms, warehouse management, supply chain management, merchandising and point-of-sale (POS) systems, to identify technology opportunities and challenges.

  • Governance and Standards: Establish and enforce architectural standards, guidelines, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, security, and compliance across all application development projects. Participate in architecture review boards.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What you need:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in IT architecture or a related role, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions.

  • Cloud Platforms: Deep hands-on experience with application development and architecture on both Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Retail Experience: Demonstrated success architecting enterprise solutions within the retail and e-commerce industries.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven design, and API management.

  • Proficiency in modern development practices (DevOps, CI/CD, containerization).

  • Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and data governance practices.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or TOGAF Certification.

  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools in a retail context.

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location:Washington

Compensation Range: $166,000-$249,000

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.
