About the Role
We are currently seeking a Shop Supervisor to lead day-to-day shop operations at our Merritt location. The primary function of the Merritt Shop is the upfitting of snow plow trucks to support Emcon's road maintenance operations across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.
Reporting to management, the Shop Supervisor is responsible for supervising skilled shop personnel, coordinating production activities, and ensuring that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards. This role works closely with senior managers and peers on equipment design configurations and production planning and plays a critical role in maintaining efficient, high-quality shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of skilled shop personnel
Lead and support a team responsible for upfitting snow plow trucks for multi-provincial operations
Assign work, set priorities, and manage production schedules to meet operational deadlines
Work collaboratively with senior managers and peers on equipment design configurations and production requirements
Monitor workflow and adjust staffing, materials, or resources as required to maintain productivity
Ensure production deadlines are consistently met while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and quality
Oversee and manage all shop parts, materials, and inventory
Ensure accurate tracking of production costs, materials, and labour
Maintain production, inventory, and work-related records
Ensure efficient use of manpower, materials, tools, and equipment
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and operational standards
Provide on-the-job guidance, instruction, and coaching to shop staff
Identify and report performance, safety, quality, or conduct concerns to management
Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality, productivity, and safety standards are met
Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to support shop and operational requirements
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Secondary school graduation or equivalent
Previous supervisory experience in a shop, production, mechanical, or industrial environment
Strong understanding of production processes and shop operations
Experience leading skilled trades or technical personnel
Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
Experience coordinating crews, materials, equipment, and inventory
Ability to read and interpret technical, production, or equipment-related documentation
Supervisory or leadership training considered an asset
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence

Salary Range: $68,000 – $75,000 per year, with full benefits and pension.
