HnH Chief Operating Officer
Job Description
The Chief Operating Officer is recommended by the President and is approved and terminated by the HnH Board of Directors. He/she supervises all HnH paid and volunteer employees and ensures that any building needs are addressed. She/he reports directly and is responsible to the President of the Board of Directors. The COO has authority in all decisions pertaining to HnH buildings, residents and House managers subject to oversight by the Board of Directors.
Duties and responsibilities of the Chief Operating Officer include the following:
This is is a 24/7 Position (Available to back up Peer Leaders in emergency situations)
Promotes an environment where everyone can learn, grow and encourages residents to focus on recovery and education.
- Appoints and supervises the Peer Leaders including the maintenance of an education plan (check list), goal sheet and progress notes on all residents.
- Listens to the concerns of the staff, mentors and provides support and guidance encouraging ongoing education for the HnH staff.
- Ensures all beds are full. Conducts applicant interviews and makes final decision on resident acceptance. The Chief Operating Officer likewise makes the final decision when to terminate recommend a resident for discharge from the HNH program.
- Ensures that community fees are accurately and fully collected by the Peer Leaders. If inability to pay issues arise the resident is made aware of available resources.
- Conducts weekly staff meetings with Peer Leaders to make sure HnH policy and procedures are being enforced and address any issues regarding the program and community as a whole.
- Meet individually with the Peer Leaders to review each resident's educational progress, the grounds and housekeeping details and needs for each house.
- Monitors and responds to the education plan (check list) and goal sheet for each Peer Leader.
- Administers drug and alcohol screens on a random basis.
- Transports Peer Leaders and residents as needed.
- Acts as the emergency on-call contact person for Peer Leaders when police, fire or rescue are required.
- Attends monthly HnH Board meetings and presents a monthly report on bed occupancy, fee collection, and maintenance needs and expenses; staff issues; policy concerns and upcoming events. Follows all Board recommendations.
- With others HnH staff, volunteers or Board members, interacts with other community agencies to stay current with available services and other resources to promote and advance the HnH mission.
- Ensure day to day operations are conforming to Mission Statement, HNH policies and state and federal laws governing Non-Profits
- Purchase and deliver materials needed to keep property in good condition.
- Dump runs Bulk items etc..
- Ensure all residents are being treated Safely, fairly and with respect.
- Make sure Peer Leaders are trained and familiar with their duties.
- Meet with Peer Leaders weekly, visit houses as required to deal with people issues and participate in house meetings
- Assess the maintenance needs of the houses
- Identify items needing correction, safety, water, heat, telephone, fire alarm, bathrooms, electric appliances, etc.
- Arrange for contractors as needed for repair of buildings, appliances and mechanical systems.
- Responsible for managing expenses for household supplies, repairs, etc. Any purchase over $1500 requires the approval of the President
- Answer and respond to calls from fire alarm monitoring company.
- Schedule Water Company, Fire Sprinkler Co, Fire Dept and Alarm Co, to perform annual testing of fire Sprinkler and alarm system.
Pay: $71, $86,251.62 per year
