Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students. This role involves working closely with children across various age groups, including preschool, toddler, and early childhood settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for childhood development, experience working with children, and a commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing space for learning. The position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to children's educational experiences while gaining valuable classroom management skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities aligned with curriculum standards
- Support children during classroom activities, ensuring engagement and participation
- Provide individualized attention to children with special needs or disabilities, supporting their developmental goals
- Supervise children during free play, meals, nap times, and transitions between activities
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment by following health and safety protocols
- Support behavior management strategies to promote positive conduct among students
- Assist with basic first aid when necessary and report any incidents or concerns to supervising staff
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and developmental milestones
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education, childcare, and behavior management
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom
- Be reliable, punctual, and able to consistently arrive to work on time
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed (e.g., classroom materials, assisting children)
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, or babysitting is preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early education practices
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
- Experience working with children with special needs or disabilities is a plus
- Certification in first aid or CPR is desirable but not required; willingness to obtain certification if necessary
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff
- Compassionate, patient, and attentive to individual children's needs
- Prior experience in childcare, nannying, or caregiving roles is advantageous
This position is vital in supporting the educational growth of young learners while fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
