Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Carpenter / Supervisor to oversee construction and renovation projects on-site. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive hands-on experience in various construction trades, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently. This role involves supervising crews and subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining high-quality standards across all tasks. Candidates with a background in custom new construction, remodeling, or general construction are encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate construction teams on various projects, including framing, trim carpentry, roofing, siding, and drywall installation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate project execution.
- Oversee the use of hand tools and power tools, to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Manage daily operations on construction sites, including heavy lifting, material handling, and equipment setup.
- Perform miscellaneous carpentry tasks as needed.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards; enforce safety protocols among team members.
- Perform quality control inspections to verify that work meets specifications and client expectations.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and subcontractors to coordinate schedules and project timelines.
- Assist in estimating project costs and materials for upcoming jobs when necessary.
- Provide mentorship and training to crew members to develop skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical work, and restoration techniques.
- Maintain daily work logs in cloud-based project management platform
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating, general carpentry, or related trades.
- Minimum of 2 years verifiable experience as lead carpenter or site supervisor.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, new home construction and remodeling processes.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, scaffolding systems, and other construction equipment.
- Ability to tow trailers and drive company vehicles for jobsite mobilization, jobsite cleanup, and associated support activities.
- Ability to lead teams effectively while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in quality control and project coordination.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working at heights or in confined spaces as required by various projects.
- Industry-specific certifications or licenses related to carpentry or construction supervision are preferred but not mandatory.
