Southern Heat Exchanger Corporation, a leader in the Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Industry for over 50 years, is currently looking for a qualified Design Engineer.

The selected candidate will join SHECO as a member of the Engineering Team in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Primary responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Mechanical design of heat exchangers, boilers or pressure vessels to meet customer supplied performance criteria and ASME code requirements.

• Professional interaction and coordination with other departments including operations management and fabrication personnel relating to fabrication concerns/clarification, change requests, and project status as needed.
• Serve as a customer contact person regarding design, approval/comments for drawings, pre-fab meetings, change requests, and project status as well as cross training between departments as needed.

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Experience in a process equipment manufacturing or process engineering related position is a plus but not required. Experience with design software such as Inventor or SolidWorks, Compress, CodeCalc and RCS is a plus. Any experience with model-based software, VBA, or AutoDesk APIs should be noted. The candidate should be highly motivated, results oriented and a self-starter to perform in a team environment that ensures customer commitments are met and intradepartmental coordination is maintained. The candidate should be thorough and detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills and abilities. An ability to correctly choose between competing priorities and to successfully manage multiple projects is also necessary. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable interacting with customers both in person and over the phone. This position will report to the Engineering Manager and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60, $80,000.00 per year
