The Department of Customer Services (CSD), Division of Motor Vehicles,
Motor Vehicle Control Section located in Kapahulu.
Motor Vehicle Registration Section located in Kapalama Hale.
The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Automotive Equipment Service Division
Windward Yard Section located at Kapa'a Quarry (Kailua).

The Office Assistant job series is a starting point for many specialized support positions within the City. Opportunities for career growth will depend on the specific Office Assistant positions within the individual City departments.
General Job Responsibilities
This position performs a variety of clerical and office support duties. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare, review and process forms, records, applications, and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Create, edit, format, save, and retrieve documents using word processing and other office software.
- Review and process documents, using judgement to determine the correct action when instructions are not clearly defined.
- Search paper and electronic files to locate information, organize findings, and prepare summaries or reports.
- Maintain paper and electronic filing systems and updates them as needed.
- Answer telephones and take or relay messages to the appropriate staff.
- Answer questions from the public or staff in person or by phone and explain basic rules, policies, or procedures.
- Assist the public with completing standard forms.
- Write routine correspondence and acknowledgment letters.
- Gather information from multiple sources and prepares written summaries or reports.
- Help improve office procedures by setting up or maintaining databases, templates, filing systems, or other tools.
- May provide guidance or training to clerical staff and assist with assigning or reviewing work.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Special Work Requirements:
- Department of Customer Services Work Schedule: M-F, 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Department of Facility Maintenance Work Schedule: M-F, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- May need to work after hours, weekends and/or holidays as needed depending on operational needs.
- There may be other special work requirements depending on the specific departmental vacancy.
