What you will do-
The Associate Production Team Leader (PTL) is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing operations team on 2nd Shift. This role ensures excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance while fostering employee engagement and driving continuous improvement. The Associate PTL manages day-to-day operations, supports cross-functional collaboration, and builds a culture of accountability, teamwork, and personal growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop 2nd Shift team members to achieve business objectives in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and engagement
- Allocate resources based on production schedules and operational priorities.
- Monitor performance metrics, communicate results during MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement) meetings, and escalate issues as needed
- Anticipate and resolve equipment, staffing, or workflow issues to minimize downtime
- Partner with support teams (engineering, maintenance, quality, planning) to drive problem resolution and improve processes
- Conduct performance reviews, talent discussions, and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies
- Recruit, hire, and onboard talent while forecasting future staffing needs for temporary and permanent roles
- Manage labor efficiency, overtime approvals, and timecard compliance.
- Promote employee engagement by creating an inclusive environment that encourages feedback, growth, and accountability
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through Lean, 6S, Kaizen, and cost reduction initiatives
- Identify and execute continuous improvement projects through teamwork, empowerment, consultative problem solving, and operating with honesty and integrity while providing a highly responsive and unsurpassed level of customer service
- Own and execute Leader Standard Work (LSW), including audits for quality, safety, and 6S compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, legal, corporate, and HR policies.
- Represent the 2nd Shift Team during cross-shift handoffs and collaborate with other shift leaders to ensure smooth transitions
What you need-
- Bachelor's degree or in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of equivalent experience will be considered - required
- 4+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, logistics, or related operations – required
- Experience in Lean manufacturing, problem solving, and continuous improvement - preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop people, and deliver measurable business results
- Proficiency with PC applications and business systems
