About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and consultative legal technologist and AI Engineer to join our Knowledge & Innovation team. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing AI-powered workflows that enhance attorney productivity and client service delivery. You will work closely with legal teams to translate business needs into intelligent solutions using cutting-edge Gen AI platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with attorneys and practice groups to identify opportunities for AI-driven workflow automation and similar needs, as they arise.
- Design, prototype, and deploy AI-powered workflows using our Gen AI platforms. Develop workflows to extract data from large datasets, supporting legal research, and case strategy. These legal workflows will also include document review, due diligence, contract analysis, and drafting.
- Serve as a bridge between legal and technical teams, translating legal requirements into scalable AI workflows while explaining AI capabilities and limitations.
- Monitor performance and continuously improve AI workflows based on user feedback and insights.
- Conduct testing and QA for platform updates, enhancements, or integrations.
- Run training sessions and create documentation to support adoption of AI tools and associated workflows. Train users on the use of the workflows and provide basic end-user support for "how to" questions.
- Ensure all AI solutions adhere to legal ethical standards, data privacy laws, and firm policies; monitor and evaluate performance for continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about emerging trends in AI and legal technology, recommending initiatives to maintain the firm's competitive edge.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree required, a Master's degree would be considered a plus but not required.
- 2+ years of experience in AI engineering, legal tech, or process design in a business or tech setting. Background in law or legal operations is a plus, but not required.
- Strong understanding of Gen AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG, data pipelines, and agentic AI.
- Experience with platforms like Harvey, Hebbia, or similar legal AI tools.
- Some proficiency in Python or other scripting languages; familiarity with APIs and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent consultative and communication skills; ability to engage with legal professionals and stakeholders.
- A natural curiosity with a problem solving aptitude, someone who thrives on being a team player while being a self-starter as well.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills; proven ability to work in cross-functional teams with lawyers, paralegals, and technical staff.
- In time, grow into a power user level coach who can proactively suggest improvements to processes and tools that support client delivery and internal efficiency.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in a law firm or legal department or a legaltech company, and working knowledge of legal terminology.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this position is $117,750 to $130,500 and represents the firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of the posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidates experience and qualifications. This range is specific to our NYC office and may not be applicable to other locations.
