ABOUT NMGA

New Mexico Grant Administration (NMGA) helps local governments, tribal entities, and nonprofits secure and manage public and private funding. We provide full-spectrum support—from grant prospecting and writing to compliance, post-award reporting, and audit readiness. As our clients modernize their workflows, we're expanding our team to offer hands-on, technical support for streamlining and automating the many moving parts of grant management.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a tech-savvy, solutions-driven contractor to support the development and maintenance of Airtable and Excel-based tools that help NMGA clients manage their grants more efficiently. This role will be critical in designing workflows, templates, trackers, and automations that replace outdated manual systems and bring clarity to grant-funded work.

You'll work closely with NMGA staff and directly with clients—including government agencies and nonprofits—to translate their unique needs into tailored digital solutions. Your understanding of public-sector operations and attention to user experience will be essential to your success in this role.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

· Strong systems thinker with a process improvement mindset

· Self-directed and organized with excellent follow-through

· Empathetic communicator who enjoys solving problems collaboratively

· Comfortable translating vague or complex workflows into intuitive digital tools

· Excited about helping mission-driven organizations modernize how they work

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop, customize, and maintain Airtable and Excel-based tools for grant tracking, workflow automation, and data management

· Build user-friendly interfaces, dashboards, and automation rules (e.g., reminders, reporting alerts, form integrations)

· Translate client workflows and compliance requirements into structured systems

· Troubleshoot and refine existing templates or databases in collaboration with clients and NMGA team members

· Document tools and processes for easy adoption by users with varying levels of tech literacy

· Conduct short trainings or walkthroughs for clients and staff as needed

· Stay up to date on Airtable features, Excel formulas/macros, and relevant integrations (e.g., Zapier, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive)

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

· Minimum 2 years of experience developing Airtable or Excel-based solutions for business, nonprofit, or government use

· Strong command of Airtable, including base setup, interface design, automations, and integrations

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, conditional formatting, pivot tables, data validation, and basic macros

· Familiarity with grant administration, public agency workflows, or government funding processes

· Proven ability to design user-friendly tools and explain systems clearly to non-technical users

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Reliable internet connection and comfort working in a fully remote, asynchronous environment

· Availability to respond to requests and deliver project updates in a timely manner
