Veterinary Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong desire to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to pets. This role is essential in ensuring the well-being of animals while delivering excellent customer service to pet owners.

Duties
As a Veterinary Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting veterinarians during examinations and procedures
• Providing basic care for animals, including feeding and medicating
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the clinic and treatment areas
• Handling and restraining animals safely during examinations and treatments
• Preparing laboratory samples and assisting with diagnostic tests
• Utilizing veterinary practice software to maintain electronic medical records
• Educating pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and health maintenance
• Keeping accurate records of patient information and treatments

Experience
The successful candidate will possess:

• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role within a veterinary clinic or animal care environment
• Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices
• Strong animal handling skills with the ability to work with various species safely
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is preferred but not required
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members
• A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting in a fast-paced environment
