We are currently seeking applicants for a Dining Manager/Hostess position.
Hours between 7am-7pm
This person ensures proper service in the manner most pleasing to residents and guests and assures a high standard of appearance, hospitality and service from dining service staff. The dining manager works under the direction of the Executive Chef and provides assistance in all dining functions and oversees dining serving staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all community staff to assure that dining service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
- Serve as liaison with chef/cook and dining servers.
- Ensure that department staff, residents, visitors, etc., follow established policies and procedures at all times.
- Assist dining servers; take orders as necessary
- Take reservations
- Greet and seat residents and guests.
- Assure correct appearance of dining room: cleanliness and set-up.
- Record menus of residents on meal tickets.
- Monitor and assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
- Monitor and assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist chef/cook in preparing meals as directed.
- Monitor and assist in checking diet trays before distribution.
- Monitor and assist in food preparation for special meals, for parties, etc.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Executive Director
Requirements:
- Experience in Dining Management preferred. Dining experience in senior living, assisted living or similar setting required.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, visitors, government agencies and the general public.
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with others, have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
