Summary: This position interfaces across multiple departments and technologies and makes improvements that affect day to day operations. A Tech. is responsible for hands-on improvements as well as helping with troubleshooting, testing, and analysis of various improvement initiatives. A Tech. is a key contributor to the continuous improvement of plant performance metrics in the areas of corrective actions, safety, productivity, cost, quality and sustainability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities performs project-based improvement initiatives including but not limited tom new fixture fabrication, execution of experimental procedures, cycle time studies, production yield analyses and continuous improvement projects.
- Support production processes through proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Design and implement modifications and upgrades to production equipment and processes.
- Collaborate with cross -function teams to resolve production issues and improves processes.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and records. Create and maintain engineering drawings.
- Provide training on manufacturing operators/production technicians and other staff on work instructions, change overs and PM's.
- Provide Technical support: to engineering staff in the operations and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Including complex components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment.
- Investigates complaints, performs return sample evaluation, root cause analysis, and implements changes when needed based upon investigation.
- Conduct feasibility and engineering studies and generate relevant reports.
- Collaborates with Engineers, during the investigation process in collecting inspection data to produce statistical analysis tools.
- Works with Engineers, during the investigation process in collecting inspection data to product statistical analysis tools.
- Adheres to manufacturing/quality processes including testing, quality and documenting to ensure product meets specified criterial contained in the work orders/ specifications/forms.
- Troubleshoot process problems that arise in manufacturing. Observe machine operations, control boards, dials and gauges to detect malfunctions such as output quality, polymer continuity and dimensional tolerances. Works with hand tools: can assemble and disassemble machines, equipment. Ability to use measurement equipment, but not limited to tape measure, Pin gages, Laser micrometers, Micrometers, rulers and video Microscopes.
- Complete documentation in a timely, accurate and neat manner, including both written and data entry.
- Preforms quality inspections/checks per the quality control plan/blueprint/work orders and escalates issues to Supervisor, when required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related roll.
- Experience drafting reports and collecting data.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret technical information.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degreed with four or more previous years of related experience.
- Previous experience with ISO/FDA and/or cGMP.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot machinery.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
- Excellent Computer skills .
- Experience and demonstrated skills in Project Management.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to input, handle or feel, use of arms to reach, able to hear and talk.
- Must possess fine hand motor skills to handle small manufacturing tools, QC tools and fine product. Ability to raise arms above shoulder height.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Required to stand/walk for majority of an 8-hour work shift and lift/push/pull up to 50lbs occasionally throughout work shift.
- Must be able to use hand tools including but not limited to scissors, pliers, razor blades, wire snips.
- Some people are more sensitive to environmental odors than others. Be advised that the this area has odor-producing activities.
- Works on a manufacturing floor. Periodically overtime will be required, including weekends.
- Some travel, including between PPC owned properties, is required. Able to work in different locations within the company.
